Celebrates and chronicles the surprise birth and endearing milestones of Colo, a gorilla born in 1956 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. Follows Colo's journey from a cuddly baby, to a feisty toddler, to a mother of three, to the matriarch of one very large gorilla family and now the oldest living gorilla in the world.

When his family's restaurant and Cuban American neighborhood in Miami are threatened by a greedy land developer, thirteen-year-old Arturo, joined by Carmen, a cute poetry enthusiast, fight back, discovering the power of poetry and protest through untold family stories and the work of José Martí.

Seventh-graders Jin, Alexandra, and Elvin come from very different backgrounds and circumstances, but they all live in Harlem, and when Elvin's grandfather is attacked they band together to find out who is responsible--and the search leads them to an enigmatic artist whose missing masterpieces are worth a fortune, and into conflict with an ambitious politician who wants to turn Harlem into an historic amusement park.
