Actress Valerie Torrey and her husband were costars on a cult sci-fi tv show. After a tragedy blew their family apart she took their son Alex and fled Los Angeles. Six years later Val must reunite Alex with his estranged father as the three set out on a road trip from New York, making appearences at comic book conventions. For Alex this trip is magical, but as they get closer to their destination he begins to realize that the story his mother is telling him about their journey might have a very different ending than he imagined.
