Description
Episode 1. The Doc finds his return to London delayed by the birth of his son, and then again by some sad news. Meanwhile he butts heads with his replacement, a newly-qualified doctor whose diagnoses he doesn't agree with.... Episode 2. The Doc's Aunt Ruth arrives for the funeral and learns that she has inherited the farm while the Doc finds out that one of the pall bearers isn't up to the job and that Aunt Ruth may well have some medical problems of her own. A couple of days of working with the Doc and trying to cope with their baby leave Louisa exhausted and desperate to find a new receptionist for the practice. Episode 3. The baby is giving Doc and Louisa sleepless nights, and things aren't helped by the new receptionist who - after a late start on her first day - seems far too energetic. Bert starts to suffer from dizzy spells, and Aunt Ruth's neighbours cause her trouble. When she goes to confront them, it sets off a chain of events that involve both Dr Ellinghams. Episode 4. The Doc and Louisa are still struggling with getting the baby to sleep, but when Louisa's estranged mother turns up she seems to have the magic touch. Both Bert and a rival restaurant owner have big money-making plans for the inaugural Port Wenn Fun Run.
Description
Episode 5. PC Penhale is shocked when his ex-wife turns up in the village, especially as she thinks they are still married. Bert takes drastic steps to keep the restaurant's cash flow going. The Doc and Louisa are running out of time to choose a name for the baby, and Louisa discovers her mother's real reason for returning to Port Wenn. Episode 6. Kids at the school are getting sick: could it have something to do with the caretaker's increasingly erratic behavior? PC Penhale realizes that he is going to have to change his ways if he is to convince Maggie to stay in Port Wenn. Louisa and Martin seem unable to agree on anything, leading her to make a devastating decision... Episode 7. Al learns of Bert's financial problems, but thinks he may be able to help out. PC Penhale is on the trail of a vandal. Tensions between the Doc and Louisa continue to mount, and matters aren't helped when Eleanor decides to hire a local girl to look after the baby. Episode 8. A flu bug hits the school, forcing Louisa to recruit Bert and Al to cook the lunches and to ask the Doc to look after the baby. Mrs Tishell's husband returns and announces that he wants to retire to spend more time with her and this, combined with her self-medication, convinces her that the time is right to take what she sees as her rightful place in the Doc's life.
